Experiencing Local Energy Levels
High energy-consuming
appliances have been inextricably linked with the daily life today, we try to
expand thinking about how to save energy by design. To learn more about daily
objects energy consumption, they have been redesigning a series of products
around the theme of 'Erratic Appliances', the series contain too many objects
that are located in the home environment.
These critical practices seem to embody the importance of energy.
The series of objects expose energy issues,
in various ways and direct feedback to user. To increase energy awareness that
happens critical design through from within, not by means of external
preoccupied by form.
To help users to pay more attention to
their consumer behavior and habits, they need to know these material properties
related expressions in aesthetics. Thus, they design a series of 'Erratic
Appliances' through form and construction questions to show the crisis of
global energy consumption. So far, their work has been focussed to make energy
related issues, to do this, they have tried to rediscover life around
appliances.
Obviously, these erratic appliances are not
meant to improve our live or redesign existing designs, but act as a difficult
form with might force a hermeneutic reading. This way, the project are mainly
purpose for the problem-finding rather than problem-solving. Not only for reflecting
upon the ideas of design, but also increasing the poetic distance.
