Slow technology  - textile displays:
It has been a long time since the developing of the textiles as a creative material. Textiles have temperature and language of material for itself. Comparatively, temperature of information technology is cold. But there still have resemblance between textiles and information technology. Our generation is woven of multiplex information as textile is woven of fibres.
When the piece of fabric were blowing up and fall. It’s a metaphor for  temporality of information. The project combine poetic way with aesthetics. Expression of design  communicates idea witout word. The idea include characteristic of media, the generation, and social phenomena.
The design object try to transformed the cold information into a landscape painting by combining characteristic of  textiles, temporality and process of motion. Conceptual design across language and nation.

Isn’t that so similiar that using the UV-light to test the behavior of words compared with archaeolgy and postmortem examination? It make us consider that how  important the news and events have been appeared on our life? And it still lying there Over time.

Slow technology - textile displays:
The continuous development of computer technology has become diverse and  gradual disappearance the shape, when the technology matured, it converts the incisive showpiece into a related materials for narrating. Not just pure aesthetics or technical presentations, design should be rethought about some kind of relationships instead of some kind of simple service.

This project try to define computer technology as a design element by artistic installation in museum, using textiles as a medium, by  analogy wuth “fragments of information” . To utilize  the expressive properties, artist blew the textiles high through pipe and let it fall, that is shift to random result which is slowly and unexpectable, then the informations inside fragments are combined , reconstructed, and become obscure.

Through the process which materialize information technology, proven the possibility that technogy can become a material or narrative language, this practice may inspire some  conversations and critical discussions.

【Appearing-Pattern Wallpaper】






Generally speaking, forms of home electricity or appliances are designed to give instant feedback or have obvious interaction with users.

However, sunlight, which usually has a significant but slow change in behavior of time, is chosen to be the key factor to this project. The project tends to embody sunlight in something easily seen from our surrounding—for instance, wallpaper.

Using the UV-sensitive ink, ‘Appearing-Pattern Wallpaper’ not only performs an undertone of magic but also amplifies the slow behavior of sunlight.

It is initially plain with fixed color when purchased, but the pattern emerges over time when sunlight exposes textures printed with UV-sensitive ink.

“Conceptual design draws on art to orient a subversion of design norms. With respect to conceptual art, focus is shifted from the producer and the thing to the concept, and making as setting up such a concept through material objects, scripted or improvised interventions, installations or other means.”(Ramia Maze and Johan Redstrom, 2009)

Therefore, the project creates a metaphor of the ever-changing concept in life. Wallpaper, which comes to people’s sight every day, is no longer ordinary. In contrast, it has meaning from within the beautiful and poetic sunlight.

STATIC!
the Heat Sensitive Lamp



Besides marketing campaigns and engineering more efficient system, the project STATIC! puts effort on how design can affect individual's, moreover, social attention toward conserving energy.

Staying in lamp shape on the first time turned up, The Heat Sensitive Lamp transform gradually as the light bulb keep generating the heat. Depending on the amount of heat generated, the transformation of the lampshade can vary from smaller bubbles to large explosive bubbles. Heat can also be as a “painting” tool as the user can move the bulb along the lampshade.

Defamiliarizing the concept of the energy, changing the perspective from functional use to aesthetic creating tool, the lamp design here is not about solving problem, instead, it opens up the availability for people to critically reflect upon their energy consumption, therefore increase energy-saving awareness.
